flashes, not flashing...anyway
i was wondering how some of you get the light you want on a subject, without it having reflected on it. and also, i think my problem is lighting...getting it where i want it. is there a simple and/or easy way to do it, without buying things?

i'm pretty anti-flash myself. i have more fun trying to use whatever lighting i can find to work for me. check out magnetic's lighting tutorial. it shows different lights and angles. also, try using more than one light (key) to keep shadows down (fill and or backlight). this way you can control the intensity of the light and not rely on the harsh light of the flash.
