I'm off to shoot a local auto show which tomorrow which is usually fairly well lit but sometimes can be a little over whelming as far as lighting goes as there is an abundance of I think there mercury vapor lights. Anyway Ive managed to get my hands on a 17-40 F4L and a 70-200 F4L and was wondering if anyone had any experience that they were willing to pass on as far as possible shot settings? I know its the artist and not the brush but was just wondering if anyone were willing to point me in a general direction...

For non-moving objects, you'll probably be fine winging it. If you're trying to freeze some movement you may have trouble. If they allow tripods you might bring one, call ahead for that.

If you can set up some off-camera flashes, that would be sweet. Is it an assignment or personal? If you have press credentials they'll let you get away with being slightly more obnoxious with your photography (probably)

Shoot raw. It will allow you to adjust your temp/color balance perfectly if it is a little off.

Yea my tripod is a little large for this event as it can get crowded as the day goes on. it will be all cars I'm shooting, mostly custom's on displays. I just usually have a heck of a time with the damn lighting they have in there, it can produce some nasty glares and for me sometimes unpredictable results. Although this time last year I went through with my Powershot G5 so I should be able to do a little better tomorrow with my XTi. And yes I almost always shoot in RAW+Jpg as I originally come from a graphic design background and prefer to tweek a lot in PS but will prob just go to straight RAW to save some space as I only have a 4gb and a 1gb card with me...
