I know what you mean... I'm sick of people laughing at my Optio on it's tripod.
Quite a few times, strangers come up to me when I'm taking pictures and ask if I want them to take a photo of me. I'm not even dressed like a tourist. *Sigh*. The reason I bought the Optio was because I didn't want to look like a geek with a large camera. I've changed my mind now, I don't want to look like a tourist anymore!
I was quite jealous of the new 4 megapixel Optio S, but when the new mini camera from Panasonic is coming out, my Optio is history. The new FX5 is the same spec as the Optio except a little bit larger... but it has image stabilisation!!! In a camera that size, that is incredible.
So hopefully, I'm going to have the Panasonic FZ10, and the Panasonic FX5.
I like the larger, heavier, more traditional looking cameras myself. But I have learned not to underestimate the pictures that come from the slim and tiny ones. The technology never ceases to amaze.
