I want to do a dance of happiness when I see light like this:
and this: this is magic.
is it possible to create those rays of light at home?
I have tried everything I could think about:) bright lamps through some holes in doors and walls, sticked paper stripes to windows and used a bright lamp behind them...
nothing worked.
I don't have any flash and no "studio" at all.
could someone please tell me if it is possible to create this with minimum equipment?

The effect you see in the original shots is caused by the sunlight reflecting on the tiny particles of dust, etc. in the air.
You could try adding some texture to the air under the lights, with baby powder or sifted flour, etc.
I know there was a picture done here once where the person was in a room and had used his lights to project through boards or something like that, then I think threw some dust up to get caught in the light...I'll try and look for it.

I've never done this, but seen it done in Hollywierd. They sometimes use a powder blown into the air, but that gets messy (and hard to breath after a while). A smoke machine sounds better though for a smaller setup like this. The key to get the rays is to put something with holes a foot or more in front of your light source so it can make more of a beam(s) of light, kind of like how a snoot narrows the light source to a small area. Try different sized holes for broader or thinner rays. Good luck!

so I got a huge piece of a very thick paper and have already made some holes in it:) I also have a big lamp and the only problem is that I still haven't found a smoke machine. hmmm. will try with some flour in the air. (and a gas mask:) I can't wait!

i highly doubt it's only natural lighting, i think there is some processing tehcnique but then again, i might be wrong.

oh wow... it looks unnatural to me though. I like it more like on the photos posted here earlier
