I've just finished reading John Shaw's 'Nature Photography Field Guide'
This is by far and away the best semi-technical photography book I've read. It has one of the best and most useful discussions on exposure control and metering modes I've found - finally explaining how meter any scene in a useful and reliable way. The sections on technique are excellent with many real-world nuggets of advice that are invaluable and I haven't seen in print before.
The discussions on lenses and extensions and converters easily answer and clarify all of the confusions I've seen quite often (e.g., what effect does a teleconverter have on the DoF and those kind of discussions)
This is a great book packed with detailed, well written information - giving a much greater depth of understanding than other books that attempt to cover the same material. Highly recommended. |
