I have some fireworks photos from this Summer in this pBase gallery. Considering the limitations of my P+S camera, I thought a few of them came out OK. There's also a photo of the jury-rigged monopod I was able to get into the baseball game to shoot the post-game "pyro-spectacular" ...
This one was actually shot with Isaac's Fuji A101 (1MP/fixed-focus).
Here's my effort from July 4th this year -
Most of my best ones came from 1 second exposures, with aperture at 2.8 or 3.2. The slow shutter gives the better depiction of the pattern, and a little leeway on timing.
Crowd was such that I was uncomfortable with a tripod, so I handheld the camera while sitting (got there early to get good vantage point). I took over 100 shots, got 8 or so that were worth it - next year, I know what to do - maybe I can get closer to 25%. Maybe use a monopod.
What about this one? I have made it with a fully automatic camera, a HP PhotoSmart 318, on 15th July 2003. Critiques are welcome, I didn't adjust it at all. :-)
