I am ordering my Rebel next week and all is acounted for except the "Digital Film".
I can´t seem to find ratings on CF cards or any relative info on read/write speed except for this page on DPReview.
The online store I am buying from has San Disk and San Disc Ultra cards for reasonable prices but I don´t know if it´s any good. I´ll probabily go with San Disk Ultra for the extra I/O speed.
Allso I am wondering if it´s better to buy 512Mb og 1Gb. Does the size matter in read/write speed?
Any comments or insight appreciated.
hi, im not sure if the capacity has to do with speed. But, if the price is close, I'd rather buy (2) 512 cards instead of one 1gb card simply because, if one card gets erased, the other is still safe, or if one card is broken, you still have the other card.
I would go for 2 cards as well, I have 2 512mb cards....you never know what might happen.
I feel the speed of the card is not that much of a factor since the D300 does not have much in the way of burst mode the D300 is at 2.5 fps max 4 images. If you had a greater burst mode abilities then I would say the faster the card you could get the better.
I have the san disk regular, non ultra, and it works great on my D60

So SanDisc looks like a good choice, and the ultra line is a bit more snappier.
But I am still not shure if to buy 2* 512MB or 1* 1GB...

So buying 2 x 512 is a bit more expensive and I´ll probabily just loose the one I am not using :)
Having one card and not removing it from the camera seems like the right choice if speed is not a problem.
I've always gone with two smaller cards ... something about eggs and baskets I remember vaguely from my childhood ... and something about a guy named Morpheus, or Murphy, or something.
The cost difference is relatively inconsequential -- think of it as insurance. And I doubt the increased performance matches the 20% price premium. Maybe take the $289 you'd spend on the 1 GB ultra and buy a 1 GB regular and a 256 MB as a backup.
