Greetings,

I've been working on a project tonight involving wine glasses and colored water. A cliche' maybe, but it has been very helpful with my getting to know my 10D and how to use it. However, I'm running into a problem with reflections on one of my glasses. here is the current best image from my shots so far (levels done in PS).



It was done with a 60 watt desklamp hand held and pointed straight down on the following setup:



I end up with a weird thing going on in that front blue water glass. Is this too distracting from the photo? Will I need to completely surround the setup with a white surface? Any body have some hints, suggestions?

I dont think the weird thing is a reflection, I think the dark bits are where you can see the red and the green glasses through the blue, and the lighter area is where you can see the white surface through it. Try covering up the back of the blue glass with a piece of paper of something. It won't be seen in the final photo but it will stop the light area in the middle I reckon.

Ah! That makes sense... I was going crazy moving stuff around the room trying to figure out what it was reflecting.

No more shooting at 2am ::embarassed look::

You're lucky that you can try again tomorrow, when I do this kinda thing I always set everything up on my bed, so I have to get it right before I can go to sleep!

Who knows what time I got my still life shot finished... 3:45am maybe. Something silly like that anyway!

Have fun learning your 10D audio, maybe in time us 10D'ers can catch up with the ribbon winning 300D, heh Konador ;)

Great to see someone else like me without all the neat equipment, resorting to 857 pieces of paper to try and get a white background *laugh*

I have improved a little more recently though and got some largish pieces of black and white card (50c a pop) which are a very good (tiny) investment.
