I got quite over such pointless debates when I was working as a message board moderator for a teen-oriented cable network. They made me want to claw my eyes out, truly.
Agreed Horse, but what we see here also says something about the community D&L (and the SC, and the rest of us) have created here. Yes, it's a photography forum, but it's also such a comfortable community, and it feels SO much like home, to SO many people, that they feel drawn here when they want to talk about politics, or religion, or whatever.
I find turning off the rant threads really helps with doing away with all that stuff, among other silly things. It really doesn't belong here. Having those thread turned off makes this a much more enjoyable site.

I read Rant threads for comic relief most of the time.
i'm still new here, in terms of participating, but i don't think it's necessary for the forum to have venues to discuss such things.
it is a photography forum after all. if you want to discuss politics, there are other forums more suited to it. especially since religion and politics are the two most inflammatory subjects around.
