i am shocked how some photos got rated so high in the AA Battery challenge.
i wouldnt be mad that i only got 29th(which im very pleased with)
but i just think some other photos shouldnt be rated so high.
anyone agree or disagree?

Well I feel that some were rated pretty high but that is why we vote and the majority rules. The majority says the photo is good so I usually leave it at that and don't take anything away from the winners.
im just also bummed that my photo that i looved and was really thought out only got a 5.8
In which case it would be more constructive to post the image and ask for further explaination of why it didn't do as well as you expected it to. Attempting to devalue the images that did do better than yours is not going to help you understand why yours placed as it did.
i want to start by congratulating everyone who entered this challenge, as you put forth more effort than i. it is commendable.
not sure if this is the answer you are looking for, noisemaker, but i thought the scores were a bit high considering the quality across the board. there weren't any real stand-outs in my opinion that should have averaged above 7.
just my personal opinion. maybe everyone was in a good mood from the holidays. there have certainly been other comps in the last 6 months that have yielded a better crop of images, and lower average scores.
ok I will insert as if I had voted on it, this is exactly how I vote (when I do vote, it's been a while).
Fits challenge=5 but really hard to see battery so the subject doesn't really come across as easily as I would hope
Color/lighting=0 -too dark to be effective, b/w is however a good choice to keep the other colors from being distracting
DOF/focus=1 seems good and sharp
Wow factor/uniqueness=0 -probably because as mentioned, it is hard to see the real subject (the battery) and tell what it is.
Attractiveness=0
comments-If I hadn't already seen these types of billboards around I probably wouldn't have known what you were talking about, but knowing there was something "stupid" about it and the fact that there was supposed to be a AA battery in it helped me know what you were going after. I think the subject should stand out more and be the highlight of the image, good effort though. Given the above items I would have rated your image a 6.
