I lost the original file for a photo in a hard drive crash, well 4 photos and not so important but ive been messing around with scans to see if i can get rid of some of the printing artifacts.
They were printed using standard ink at 600 DPI on plain paper, that creats most of the problems right there without the photo ink and on the plain paper its a bit spottier and on 2 of the photographs more promentn lines show the print steps.
They were scanned at 2400 DPI (also did lower res scans) 2 of them have the "Print Lines" and 2 of them hardly show it.
Using Photoshop CS2 i also have other software at my disposal.
Doing Test Edits on 7200x5400 @ 300 DPI Downsize before applying them to the full res shot. The end result will be sized smaller once i get the editing the way i like it.
AUto Level does alot for the lightness but it seems removing the noise is best done first then running auto levels. Several tecniques produce "Noise Reducing" Effects. Most sacrificing clarity but at low levels produce pleasing affects. Even A Slight surface blur does alot for it.
I was just wondering if anyone had a technique for reducing noise from plain paper scanned photos. (Photo was printed on a fulsize 8.5x11 sheet) |
