Do any animations play in your browser? If not look in Tools>Internet Options>Advanced tab , about half way down under Multimedia there is a checkbox 'Play animations in web pages' check it, Apply, OK.

I was wondering about smilies too. You guys don't have standard smilies in this forum right? So you just paste an image in your post or something? or have I missed a setting in my preferences?
