I finally got the wife and kid to work with me a little. I have a very small studio setup and have started working on portrait photography. Most of my stuff is landscape related so this is out of my comfort zone. I would appreciate some C&C.
The studio setup is two strobes with softboxes on the front. One strobe is setup in front to the left of the subject. The other was setup to bounce off the ceiling to illuminate the background. I have a third strobe, but I need to fix one of the circuit boards.
Suggestions on lighting and/or posing is appreciated.
Hey Jeff, :)
Left you a couple of comments. Some very nice portraits indeed. I unfortunately have no experience with lighting, but you should definetly check out the portrait lighting thread if you get the chance. One thing I hear a lot around here is to really light the background well to help blow it out a little. That might help with concealing some of the wrinkles and such in the fabric. But I'm sure somebody who has more experience with that will come along and help out. Great job for somebody who doesn't shoot alot of portraits though. :)
brizmama, jenesis, and Makka, thanks for your comments. I have returned the comments for you.
In regards to the background, I am strugling with it a bit. Mostly due to the fact that I don't have enough room to move the main light back to allow the fill light to saturate the background. I also cant' get the apperature open enough to blur the background due to the strength of the strobes. I think it's time to move the furnature around to give me more room.
