Well, about a month ago I finally did it. At one time I thought I would be a digicam guy forever but I was seduced by the tack sharp images of the Sigma SD9.
Sigma SD9? What was I thinking! It's lousy in low light, takes two sets of batteries to run it, has horrible response to the color green, has only 3.5 megpixels, and it's a Sigma!
Yup, I must be crazy. But this camera ROCKS!
No trash talk, though. I'll try and get some images entered into a few challenges and let them speak for themselves. (already entered one, but it didn't fare as well I had hoped :(
Anyway, I still have the Canon S30, no plans to get rid of it. It's just too easy to put in my pocket and go. But, if anyone is interested I will be selling the CKC Power filter adapter thingy that I got for it on Ebay soon. I havn't setup the ad yet, so if your interested drop me an IM and maybe we can make a deal.

Hi. I've had mine for about 8 months. It's a sweet camera. Some people have been known to keep the camera next to them while they sleep! Hope to see some of your pictures soon!
Did you get the 50mm ex for it? I have it and it's a really good all round lens. I have the 24/70 ex and the 28?/300 which I don't use very often.

Thx Olympian and Pcody. I was not familiar with Eyvind Earle until now... very nice work. Stylistic and straightforward, interesting stuff.
And Pcody, I must say I enjoy some of your work so far as well. Especially "Night Watch," and "I dreamed I was young. Again." (which would have been great for the Shadows challenge). Currently I have the 28-70 ex and the 24 prime (non ex). Why I didn't go ahead and just get the 24-70 I don't know. I had some crazy notion that the 24-70 images were soft in the corners at 24mm. But I know now that this is not the case. It is just as fine a lens as the 28-70, maybe better. I was pretty much broke after getting the camera and those two lenses, or I would have picked up the 50 macro as well. Now that I have waited, though, I have about decided to get the 105 macro instead.
Some of the detail seen in the full size versions is, of course, obscured when you reduce the size for submission. It has prompted a complete rethinking of the regular workflow I used with the Canon S30... they are just not the same. Size reduction has been one of the stickier points. With the Canon RAW files I always used Bilinear resizing as I found that it consistently gave the best results (ie. sharpest and least "digital" looking) But the Sigma Raw files respond differently. Depending on the subject I may opt for either Bilinear, or Bicubic, it varies. Either way, they require almost no sharpening, which to me, makes for a cleaner image overall.
Michael, welcome to team DSLR. Did you take your 2000th picture yet? I certainly started taking a lot more pictures when I got my 10D. Compared to the G2, the focus is so fast that I shoot lots more pics than I used to. Click click click. So what if only 1 out of 100 pics is worth saving? :P
