There are definitely some phenomenal photographers around here who really know their way around a lighting set up. I've come for your advice!
I do what I can to be creative with my modest Speedlight 420, a 24 inch disc reflector, and array of makeshift diffusers and modifiers, but I think it's high time I step it up! Especially since I'm trying to get back into some commercial shooting; portraits and such.
I've been doing some research here and there and decided I don't need entirely too much just yet. I'm still a big fan of natural light but perhaps a simple and inexpensive set up for portraits in and out doors might help me improve quality and open up creativity a bit.
Bare in mind that I've used studio lighting and multi-strobe set ups before (in college)and though I'm no pro, I understand the basics.
So please share some wisdome with this young grasshopper! What did you start with?
