Ok well my parents anniversary is coming up and id like to take a nice picture of there wedding+engagement rings, I just dont know who (either in lighting or in PP ) i can make the diamonds "twinkle" and make the gold really pop, i have a little "macro studio" that helps with lighting from the side but other than that i dont know what else i can do to make them look good.
Okay, maybe this is a little cheesy, but the B&G seem to eat it up. I can never get the sparkle on the diamond to hit my lens just right... it seems that I can see the sparkle the entire time, right up to when I hit the shutter release, but then when I look at the picture ... nothing.
So I cheat. Take a look at this image:
All I do is use one of several little black and white templates that I have ... starburst patterns ... which I lay over top of one edge of the diamond in a layer that is set to Screen mode. Everything that is black disappears. And the white shines thru as a sparkle. All that's left is to use Free Transform to scale or rotate the sparkle into place.

You can also use the crosshatch brushes on a new layer(s) - just one click, then resize, rotate, adjust opacity.
