I just love DPC, and love making comments, and try to vote in every challenge.
Most times I vote 100% on challenges, and always comment on at least 25% or more, depending on my time or health reasons.
My concern is that we know there are people who deliberately vote low, and are referred to as "trolls".
Is there any way of sifting these members out, (especially the ones that do this all the time) and has it ever been done.
Would looking at their voting average, especially if it is consistently low, be a way to find out if they are the ones that always vote low.
It just disappoints me, when we have so many members are just so honest and true, but we still have a select few who arn't.
I guess I shouldn't worry so much, as I guess it all falls into place in the end. Just had to get this off my chest, as it has been worrying me somewhat. Worrying is not good for the soul.....
Don't worry about it, Shez. The recommended solutions to this issue always have worse effects than the problem. :)
For my part though, I burn random villages now & then, hoping to destroy a troll or two. Don't know if it's helped or not. ...hmmm, I just unwittingly illustrated my point above. :)
it is a bummer, but as has been stated before, the net effect of low average voters does seem to distribute across the board, so no real effect on the outcome of challenges.

Troll votes usually dont do very much harm anyway, and like Ken said, the solution usually cause more damage than the problem itself.
I can see your point, Shez. When someone has voted over 2,000 images and their average vote given is a 2.9... it just makes you want to cry. But those are the rare ones and MOST of us vote honesly and fairly. Don't let the bad apples spoil your fun.
But as long as they're voting evenly low on all images it wouldn't affect your placing anyway. The only effect would be to SLIGHTLY lower everyone's scores.
Let them get their kicks if they must, and we'll just keep on doing what we love, right? :)
It just peeves me that some people just arn't very nice, and I think that is what really upset me the most.
Life is just to short, not to be nice.....
Am I just to nice a person, to be blinded by the fact that there are trolls and gremlims in this world.
I also realize that it does balance out in the end.

dudephil has a very high voting average...I think I recall when he first came to the site, he was afraid that perhaps he was being too nice...I found that rather refreshing.
Or hey, you could be a dick and call someone out who you 'suspect' of lowballing because of their average, only to discover you've made the biggest gaff in the history of the world...
