Ok.. the thing is that I have a image that looks just like its a Neon sign but for real it isn't. If I where to submit that image in to the neon sign challenge is that a ground for a DQ?
I mean if you woulde see it you ccouldn't see the diference..
You will not be DQd and I wouldn't mention that it is not a real neon sign b/c voters will likely vote it lower.

I agree with the other posters - don't tell them it is not neon. Let us all figure that out ourselves!
Anyway, if we were obligated to meet the absolute definition of a neon light (or any other criteria bound by the challenges), it would be a monochrome competition. Neon lights are actually only the red ones - the ones with neon gas in them. The other colors - blues, greens etc. are due to other gases in the tubes. Hence, they are not by absolute definition a neon light!

Well you can tell us all day long that yours is not neon but without the photo we can't tell which is your or not...so I think you are safe at least until after the challenge...that's when the beating sticks will come out especially if you do well at all.
I wouldn't think that voters would take the term 'Neon' literally as the noun refers to a variety of things, for example: glowing glass tubes containing various gases that may or may not include neon; colors that seem to glow (or flouresce); an automobile name; anything that is considered brightly glowing.
In reality, 'Neon Signs' sometimes contain neon gas but usually have a mixture of inert gases and phosphor coatings to achieve the desired color.

So, if a photo is asked to be validated, you must also send in a gas sample taken from the glass tube. <grin!>

It's not a reason for DQ, so, no, you won't be disqualified. Good luck in the challenge! :)
Only thing I can think of is if you created the neon effect in Photoshop on a regular sign through various filters or other methods, and thus added a major element.
