I am proud of these portraits I took last weekend. I would have normally spent $300.00 if I used a pro.
My camera does not blur the background so I used PSP8 and Timj351's tutorial to blur out the background. It was a bit tough going around the face but I think I got it to look just right.
I set the exposure at 0.70 because the sun was behind us in the family portrait. I of course used a tripod with a self timer.
Any comments or suggestions appreciated.

Brag away, you did a great job! Nice looking family too. My only additional tip, would be maybe to wear brighter colors, just to stand out , and add more contrast to the scene. Good stuff :)
Very nice images but how could you go wrong with such a handsome/beautiful family? The serious one of your 3 yr old and the image of your 14 yr old particularly struck me and the family resemblances in the all together shot are clear and help the pose have cohesiveness

If you have it in your portfolio on here, you can use the thumbnail button when you write your post. (Its the left most of the 5 above the box you type in) and then just enter the ID number from your portfolio, as explained in the box that pops up when you click on the thumbnail button.
You can link to a photo from DPC or your own website.

Very nice portraits - you should be proud!
But who says the subjects need to be looking at the camera? I think you and your husband's shot is great, but if the 2 of you were looking at each other lovingly, that would also make a good shot (just a suggestion for the future). Also, I would try and pose the subjects so that the sidewalks aren't visible in the background.
Just a couple of thoughts, take them or leave them, but I think overall that these shots border on pro level portraits. Nice work!!!
It's no wonder they are so beautiful with such a beautiful family. You couldn't take a 'bad' picture! :-) I don't think you'll ever need to hire a pro again. Nice job.

to be to wash out. That is why I went with a darker color. I also
thought it would go better with the fall color theme.

Sonifo I took a look at most of your shots last night to be honest as you gave me a nice comment I deemed it only fair to have a look at your talents too :0)
I was very impressed and was going to leave a few comments which I should get around to at the weekend but just taking a look at the second shot in your list there I would be interested to see what the tree looks like slightly blurred as to give the main attention to that beuatiful face of your daughter.
Just a thought, I will upload one I have done of my neice and nephew as long as my Sister and Brother in law agree ( just I dont like to put pics of my families little ones on the net with out prior consent from them, mainly due to the perverts of today ! Im sure you understand this ! )
Anyhow I use Photoshop quite alot and have been teaching it myself from books and video tutorials from DVD ROMS off magazines so if htere is anything I can help you out on please let me know, I am no genius but I would like to help anyone I can.
