Urban Landscapes was my first challenge and in the process of shrinking my image down so I could upload it to this site in the required file size I now have a "grid" or "lines" on the uploaded image. A number of people have mentioned the grid ruins my picture so I appreciate all comments.

hmmm do you use photoshop or another program? what I do is crop the image to what I want and then use the "save for web" feature in photoshop. It asks for dimensions and I change the largest # to 640 and it works great just make sure it is under 150K.
hope that helps... there is a way to get rid of the grid lines but i don't use them so wouldn't know.

I remember voting on this image and I anticipated that it was a problem you weren't aware of. I voted as if the problem wasn't there but you obviously need to resolve it. What is your original size out-of-camera and how are you reducing your image?

If your camera is producing some indiscernible, but present patterns when the image is large then these may be accentuated during the resize due to pixel averaging. Feel free to send the original to me (cyberpix@homeland.plus.com) after the challenge and I'll have a look at it - or post your methods of reduction here and we'll see if anyone can help.

I use ACDSee Version 6. I checked the original image and it has no grid even when I magnify it. I had to resize it a number of times to fit the requirements and that was when the grid lines must've appeared. I just read the help file on resizing in ACDSee and it says:

"Avoid resizing an image repeatedly. Each resizing places image pixels using a slightly different orientation. As a result, multiple resizes can change the overall color and appearance of the image..."

I will know better next time. Thanks for your suggestions.

jtny, I saw those grid lines also and commented on them but did not take away for it. I think it is a great photo.

Just a side note, its better to not discuss your image in the forums while voting is still going on for your image.

You can always PM those who leave comments and try figure out what went wrong with your image.
