Please help as i am unsure on this, just had a quick scan to see if i could see it anywhere but still at a loss.
My question is this...
I took my shot then went into photoshop with the image and cropped it slightly, sharpened it ( all over ) then resized it. As i have done this in photoshop it has lost its EXIF data ( as i had to refer back to the original for the information ), will this image still be allowed or not ?
Please help as this is one of my better images so far and would like to know where i stand regarding the loss of EXIF info from photoshop ( I like to stick by the rules and wouldnt like my latest image to come top 3 then get DQ'd for not having EXIF data ! ) <--- Maybe im dreaming there but time will tell :0)
I've had an image in the past where I did exactly that, but overwrote the original with it by accident, so that was not even available.
I entered it anyway, there was nothing remotely suspicious about it anyway, and as expected I never got a DQ so it didn't matter in the end.
In most cases it is probably worth the risk entering it anyway, assuming you haven't cheated, as hopefully you'll never be asked to produce the orig (hasn't happened to me yet).
It's not a bad idea to take several photos of a particular scene that you feel will be successful. If you accidentally overwrite or delete a photo then you may still have another similar photo to, at least, get information from and also to help answer any questions regarding the first altered photo. This can also be useful to help prove that a particular photo is indeed yours by have other closely matched photos that were taken at the exact same time. Anyone else who may have stolen your photo or simply claimed that they were the original photographer would not have these other "outtakes".
Don't count on never getting DQ'd. I've been DQ'd several times on very non-suspicious shots. I ALWAYS save my original, everyone should be very careful about that.
