This year we have more vibrant Autumnal colours than usual but this is not widespread. I have spotted isolated trees like this one - I think this is a Sycamore (a relative of the Maple? But do not quote me on that!)

This one I gave a slight boost to the contrast.
Both had some USM applied then a slight second pass of USM - IMO it just gave a little more gentleness to the sharpening.
I have been trying to take shots of Autumn colours for the last 3 weeks. Every where I go, I see green trees, with the exception of 1 or 2. I normally see them along the roads. I hope it doesnt suddenly turn and drop in 1 week!
Any ideas on where to go in the Surrey / Hampshire area.
Apparently, we're in for a stunning display this Autumn which is due to the lack of moisture during the summer. Paradoxically it seems, despite the drought, trees have also produced more fruit than ever before. I've noticed this and an abundance of horse chestnuts and other seeds too.
I'm going to try and grab some shots while the sun still shines and leaves are still on the trees.
Came back from Turkey Friday morning and the trees on the drive back to my house (near Newbury) were stunning. So on Sunday my wife and I went to Stourhead Gardens in Wiltshire. Hoping for a blaze of colour I was a little dissapointed as the further West we travelled the colours of the trees seemed to be declining. Anyway, I did manage to take about 80 odd shots and have put just a few up so far. You are all invited to have a peep

And to chinstrap & paynekj - Stourhead looks great, I am sure I visited there some years ago - either that or the view out of the Grotto is very like some other great house.
