I took some shots of a friend of mine during her show. I was going for a kinetic excitement. Don't know if I achieved that but would like some feedback for ideas how I could do it better.

Very nice! I really like it. Great compostion of images showing her moods. The only one that I don't think is as good as the rest is the upper left. It's just a little soft on detail.
First, you did better than I ever could. I like how you have the pictures arranged.
It looks like you used two different filters, one on the left and one on the right and center. The center one is ok, I personally think it is too obvious and should have been applied with a lighter touch. Well, the fact is, I don't like filters much unless they are subtle. The filter on the left seems to have been applied on her hair and face, giving an overall feeling of oof to both of the images.
The white triangle in the upper left picture should be cloned out.
Very nice job. I really like your montage, the images work very well together. But, here are a a few small points to consider.
To me, the only image that has incongruities with the others is the image in the upper left quadrant. Somehow, if feels different from the rest. I suspect that it has to do with the angle of the face. In the others, the singer is facing or addressing the audience, but in this one image, she seems to be focused on something else other than the audience.
The bottom left image could be lightened a bit in order to match the skin tone of the other images too.
These are my comments, I hope that they help you to achieve your goal.
In addition to the other suggestions people have made, I'd try experimenting with softening the junctions of the photos, especially the center one; maybe even try a highly-feathered circular crop.
Overall I think you accomplished your goal of capturing the dynamism of a live performance.
She looks like she has great strong features so a single image with subtle lighting and a black bg would be so much better in my opinion, perhaps not shooting her when playing. And some negative space for a nice large title (where is the album title going to go at the mo?) I would also use a clean white colour and better font, perhaps one with tails.
Joanna, I think you've done a great job with this. It conveys a feeling of style and hipness (is that a word?), and most importatnly it makes me want to hear her sing. It's obvious you've worked very hard on this. I like it as it is, but it might be cool to try some effects to make it more "digital artsy" just for fun, to see how it looks. Maybe a Warhol-esque kinda thing with different tones or hues on each pic. Anyway, that's just something I might've tried, but it's cool as-is!
That's BINGO for an album cover shot. Try it with the corners of the central image rounded off and see how that looks. If you haven't already done so, you could experiment with moving the images to a different arrangement within the five positions. You may find one that pleases the eye a lot more than the others. I'd move the corner images so that their central point, the singers face, is centered in each quardrant. There is a lot of empty black at the bottom of the lower right image. Being symetrical, or uniform, might cost you points in a dpc challenge but not for an album cover.

I think being symetrical is a big no no, get something eye catching, symetrical things tend to be easier on the eye and thus not as eyecatching. Break it up a bit and make it stand out. The whole point is to get it to stand out from the 1,000,000 other albums, not blend in.
