Will someone please tell me about the burst mode on the Digital Rebel. Do you have to manually change settings from the regular single shot mode to the burst mode? That is the case with all of the consumer digital cameras I am familiar with and I want to know if the pro or semi-pro digital cameras are this way too. I would much rather be able to simply press the shutter release longer for burst shooting the way that the film cameras operate. It really bothers me to go back and fourth between these settings because I don't always know ahead of time which way I want to shoot a shot, particularily with action. I have to really be careful not to accidentally shoot in the wrong mode, especially in burst mode, where the camera will lock up for 16 seconds while it processes them. Maybe that is why camera manufacturers keep it as separate settings but I would prefer to make that choice myself.

Yes you have to select burst mode, but you can just leave it there and take one shot at a time. Ive left it there sometimes by accident and occasionaly it will click two shots quickly if i leave the button down to long. When i know that its selected and i just want one shot it works just as well as when i have it in single shot mode.
A side note-I love this camera.
I also have the sony f707 and i love that camera as well. Im keeping it for a backup camera. The canon 300d has alot faster focus and even better image quality than the sony.

There is something else. The camera is very fast at shooting a frame, and allowing you to shoot another (possibly more) immediately, even while it is writting to the CF. It stores the image to the buffer. I discovered this by accident the other day, as I was waiting for my shot, the timing being of the utmost importance, I shot prematurely, but the camera allowed me to shoot another frame immediately, and thus captured the moment I wanted.

BTW, this camera is AWESOME. Absolutely no post purchase dissonance.
