I really need some advice with this photo, it was taken with a really bad 2.1 mega pixel camera, the colors were all spotted and it was impossible to even the skin tone out due to darker and lighter spots. I decided to go black and white and it came out some what blurry, I cannot bring myself to hit delete on this one, because the odds of me getting this shot again from her is ...uh ..like one in a million. Any suggestions or help would be greatly appreciated. I hope I did this thumbnail thing right. I am crossing my fingers.[thumb][/thumb][thumb][/thumb]
This is a great shot. I like the colored version much better. The color of the little girl and the rabbit are distinguished from the background when it is in color. I would love to play with the original, I bet there is still plenty to work with. By using Neatimage or another noise reducing tool to smooth out the skin tones, tweaking the colors a bit and then adding a softening filter effect you should be able to improve it quite a bit. If you wanted to send the original to me to fix up I would be happy to do so and send it right back to you. I could even send you some Photoshop actions (if you have Photoshop or Elements) that I would be using that you might be interested in.
... and mine - but I'll be honest, although the shot will mean much to you it is technically not great and much of the clarity is lost (at least in this DPC version). Your original may be clearer which would help matters a lot. The lighting is very flat in particular which is tough to enhance.
I duped the layer in Photoshop > applied 5 pixel blur > blend mode 'Overlay' then masked the background with a soft edge > further knocked back the curtains with a blur and applied some general levels to lift contrast.
Such a sweetie. I like TerryGee's crystalized version. I think that's your best bet because of the quality of the original. Jon's dreamy look isn't bad, either.
