Gee, Zeuszen.. don't go for the industrial look, hey?
I've become quite proficient at making do. It works, ugly as sin, but it works.
I do have a weak spot for velcro.
I just mounted a tiny level on a cam, sawed off the level from a stud finder gadget bought cheaply at a hardware store, sanded the edges and velcroed (hey, a new word!) it on a friends Minolta 7i flash housing. (She had trouble getting horizons straight.)
So, next time you need a level to do some carpentry or build a fence, make sure you have a 7i in your toolbox. ;-)
My tripod doesn't rotate so I have problems getting vertical shots.
My solution this past week was to get a short step ladder out of the garage and bungy a feather pillow on top. That way I could position the camera how I needed. Using the remote shutter release allowed me to get clear shots.
