Last Sunday my computer crashed along with all my images (and husband's business records, but I could reconstruct those.) Anyway, I took the computer to a data recovery company and they returned an external drive with "all" of my images on it ($2,300 later). I shoot RAW which, for Nikons, is NEF. I bought a new computer and installed Photoshop 7.0 and tried to open one of the recovered files. Photoshop says "Could not open because it is not the right kind of document." Does anyone know if I need to install a patch or update for Photoshop to read a NEF file? I can't remember now if I had to do that or not 4 years ago when I started shooting RAW. Or do you think it's because it's a recovered file? Would the recovery process change the file structure? Please...any words of hope would be very appreciated. Thank you! |
