Okay....I have had it. I am sick of getting phone calls for restoration jobs (usually large images that have been ruined by mishandling) and going to the ONLY photo store in town to get them scanned so I can start work on them. I ask the staff at the photo store to PLEASE clean their scanner before they touch my jobs. They give it a quick wipe over and then scan. They open the image on their computer and show me how clean it is (except for the few dust spots that they proceed to try and remove). I plead with them to leave the image alone as they are not doing it right. They can't even zoom in properly on their program.
I take the images home and spend the next few hours removing thousands of dust spots and threads off the image before I can work it. The words that come out of my mouth would make any hardened crim shame in comparison.
I also usually have to stitch the photos back together to get to the size it was originally.
So...here is where I am at. I need a good scanner. But at the same time I need a printer (not for photos) but purely for text printing and printing labels onto discs.
So what do you all recommend as I am very limited to what I can get off the shelf here...so will more than likely order online. Show me what machine will get me away from the dust spots.
