Great shots. Why is it it seems easier to get the shot before or after a challenge?
I shot this one during the challenge, but the quality wasn't there. This is a case where better equipment might have helped. I shot it from the roof of Adobe's new tower in downtown San Jose, looking right down the airport runways.
Those are great shots. I really like the second one titled 'Cloud Break'. I love how you put him in the bottom portion of the frame. It made for a very eye catching photo. The colors are wonderful, and I love the posture of the bird. Great job!

Thats a good question! I think that since you only have a week to submit a decent photo, and there are two different challenges to submit too and think about, your mind narrows your focus. When I went out to shoot the other day, my mind was open to all sorts of shots, I wasn't focused on any of the challenges. I was just trying to get out of the house after a weeks worth of rain. The opportunity EXPOSED itself! I took advantage of it.
Some of us just don't have the money to spend on really nice equipment, so we have to do the best we can with what we have. We have to take the shots we can take. If our camera's can't get long distance shots of an airplane landing, then we need to get a better shot when the airplane is closer to us.
You are right Martin. Many have said in forums that equipment doesn't matter, it's the skill of the photographer. I would agree to a point on that. I have had some great ideas for photos but couldn't pull them off because of not having the right equipment. We have to learn to overcome our lack of nice equipment by shooting within it's capibility (and mine). This can be frustrating but it's also helpful in the learning process.
