And "noise", in picture terms, are grainy looking pixels in your image.
Seems most digitals perform quite well at 400 and 800 ISO. Try some tests by taking the same shot, once with a very low ISO, again at very high ISO, and compare.

Oops - and to answer our question about where to find it! ISO is in the EXIF data of your image.
In Windows XP for example, RIGHT CLICK the image, PROPERTIES, click the SUMMARY tab.
