Hey I'm Mr Pizza man....I love it when you come and pick up a pizza that I hand made for you, to your order, that I waited patiently by my phone for you to call in.
All I ask for in return (besides the $12.50 for the large extra cheese pepperoni) is a little respect. When you walk in my front door I turn and say "Hi how ya doin', have ya ordered yet???", say "HI" back. It's just a little thing... After all, I just made dinner for ya. I'd at least like to think you appreciate THAT...
At least have the common courtesy when ya come see me to HANG UP THE G@D D*#N CELL PHONE! What do ya EXPECT from me??? You call ME up 10 minutes ahead of time and get to walk into MY work and ignore ME for 5 minutes while I STAND THERE AND WAIT for you to say if you've already ORDERED OR NOT??? WHAT, For $12.50 ya get a little PUPPET ya can dangle off the end of your CELL PHONE antenna for a few minutes (and a large extra cheese pepperoni) ??? Is this your way of telling me "YOU ARE NOT IMPORTANT ENOUGH FOR ME TO STOP FOR A SECOND AND ACKNOWLEDGE YOUR EXISTANCE???"
Sounds about the same as respect we recieve in the ER at times. Except at least you are not spit at/on, punched/kicked at, yelled, screamed and cursed at. Yourself and relatives are called names, and you get accused of all sorts of things. WOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOO!!!
life is no better as a prosecutor. I called a witness to an accident (where a guy lost his eye, and nearly the other) to see if he planned to obey the court order to come in and testify as a witness and he immediately started yelling at me, accused me of threats and harassment and then hung up on me. Geez. The bad karma I got from that was unreal. The reason I even called was because he had told our staff that he wanted to be paid to testify (we don't do that in traffic court).
I don't know if its any one area or profession, but I think people just have no idea anymore how to be polite and respectful. They seem to be a lot more polite and respectful (I think its fear) when they come into court. *shrug* I don't know why! I'm a pussycat! ;)
