I bought a Sandisk Ultra II on eBay for about $55 a few months ago. Not sure if that's considered a good card, but worked fine in the G6 and better in the 350D.
Its not a 2gig card, but Ive been running a RiDATA PRO-2 8GB Compact Flash which ran me like $150. I can get over 700 raw images on it with me 30D. Lifetime warranty is nice is well, no isses so far. Only drawback is that its an 80x card so its probably not your best choice if your looking for speed.
I beleive you can get the ridata 80x 2gigs for $40usd and the 150x for $50usd.
I bought two 1Gb Sandisk Ultra II on ebay for £16.95 each.
Sandisk Extreme III are the dog's at the moment and can be found at good prices on ebay! But, I ain't gonna tell you any more cos you got the 5D just when I got my 30D and thought I might actually stand a chance...at last.
Okay, check out the Extremes on ebay, sure you can get a good deal.
Good Luck and I look forward to seeing your challenge entries :(
I bought this a few weeks ago and it's working fine for me. Bought it for that price at a Ritz store. It does seem to download a little faster than the Sandisk 1 GB Extreme III CompactFlash Card I bought when I got my camera.
Based on advice I recieved here, scalvert, I started using the Transcend 2GB from Newegg.com. No complaints so far and it is far cheaper than the others plus it is rated at 133x.
edit: Newegg.com had very quick service. I believe I recieved the two I ordered in 3 days.
Costco has had Sandisk Ultra II's for about $75 with a store rebate coupon on top of that. I recently bought a 4 gig Sandisk Ultra II at B&H for $159 with a $30 rebate.
I get Kingston Elites for $50 (well, it's been a few months) from newegg or zipzoomfly but there are other vendors.
The kingston are a tad slower (speaking specs here, not real world usage) than sandisk ultra 2s, but are 50-60% the price - i got 3 for the price of 2 sandisk cards..
BEWARE - especially on ebay - there are a lot of FAKE sandisk cards floating around -some work, some are less capacity and some do nothing - so buy from a reputablw source!
Just a note about newegg.com. I don't know if they still have it anymore, but you can post about your buying experience. If you post a positive review, they will probably send you stuff. I received a t-shirt and license plate holder. They will check to see if you ordered recently. And I would only post a positive review if your experience was positive.
If you want to use an image tank (I do and I use a 4GB and a 1GB for now), make sure you do your research. Mine is older and downloads 1GB in aronud 25 minutes. Some of the newer devices can rip a gig in 3-4 minutes apparently.

Make sure that you have a USB reader that has, in tiny print, the words "Hi Speed" in red, above the blue USB logo.
It's funny because the packaging on the USB readers often goes on and on about how fast the reader is, even if it is NOT one of the "hi speed" devices. The ones that are NOT hi speed take about 25 minutes to download a gig - sounds exactly like what you have! The ones that do say "hi speed" take about 5 minutes to download a gig.
Of course, part of the speed depends on the card itself. But I think too many people are unaware that their card readers (with confusing packaging) are slower than they thought.
I just bought a 2GB San Disk Ultra II CF at costco's for $74.99 with an instant $15 rebate (after tax) at the register. They also had the 1GB ultra II which was $40ish with a $10 instant rebate. The rebates end the 24th.
I like buying from Costco cause if anytime in the future (was after warranty is up) the product dies, they will give you your money back. I had a four year old teac stereo quit working, and they gave me what I paid for it, no questions asked.
