This summer I purchased a Lensbaby 2.0 and I've had a lot of fun with it. I have used it for a few challenges (mixed results), and have submitted a couple of stock photos using it as well. The jury is still out on the stock images as 1 is approved, 1 pending, and 2 were rejected.
Has anyone else had any success with Lensbaby images for sales? Are they being approved on stock sites? Is there a niche for these? I know all of these questions depend on the quality of the image/content, etc...
Every Lensbaby image I've submitted to stock sites has been rejected due to low quality. I think the screeners just aren't quite sure what they're looking at as I've never had any other type of image rejected.
I have not used a "store-bought" lens baby, but I have made images using a similar home-made item. I plan to submit a lot of images done with my setup to the macro sites I work with, but it remains to be seen if they will sell or not.
The lens baby looks like a nice item, but it seems it would be very hard to control the degree of distortion. Too much and it looks strange, too little and it looks normal, only when its just right can it look very cool.
My guess is that those images that look cool will sell. The problem is figuring out which ones those are.
