I'm having my first showing right now of my photography and I have been asked if someone can just buy a print so that they can frame it themselves. Of course I will sell the print but when it comes to signing the print, what do I do? Do I sign the front, the back? Do I number them as I have the rest of them?
If I could please get some help from the gurus on DPC that would be so helpful.
put a signature and copyright date in on a layer in photoshop befroe you make the print. Also, if the person buying wants an actual signature you can sign the back using a dull pencil or fat sharpie - something that won't go through the photo and actually ebmoss it.
I have a "Chop" with my Chinese name that I use for this purpose. On lithos I mainly see pencil signatures. Not sure about prints that are glossy though.
Oil based Sharpies are very nice in metallic silver, gold or black. Those colors should cover you very well, if you need to sign different backgrounds on the bottom left or right. Make sure to use the finest point possible.
