Well I made it through my first paid portrait shoot for a Martial Arts school today. I bought a manfrotto backdrop support system, a black muslin and some studio lighting off an ebay vendor and I was on my way. I was real nervous, but with my wifes help doing the paperwork as each student posed for me, it went real well. I have another shoot for the same school later this week - Im so pumped, wish me luck. Here is one of the portraits I took - would like some feedback. They wanted a straight black background for the photos, it was tough against the bright white uniforms - hope it cam across ok.

The prints for the wall will be 8 x 10, I took photos of 10 students on Saturday, and will do another 30 on Monday.

Are you using flourescent lights? If so, use the white balance setting for flourescent lights and see if this helps. I have 1400watt full spectrum flourescent and when using more than one bulb I tend to get a green tint when in a close setting. When shooting outside on a large subject (auto) the green is not a problem.
