So my "studio" (read garage) was a little warm - the subject was a little shiny.

Anyway to reduce those shiny spots in PS? I've tried the healing tool, but wonder if there's a better way.

So what did you do?

The effect is a little strong, but has potential! Let me know what you're up - teach me!

Well, you know I'm a PS imbecile, so I did it the hard way.

Cloned an adjacent area at about 20% or 30%. I didn't take my time, that's probably why it's so harsh.

I've also done it by doing a guassian blur layer and erasing the layer above it just a little. Some combination of the two might work.

I'm at work, so I can't test this out as I don't have Photoshop in front of me.

Create a duplicate layer of the original and set the Blend mode of this layer to Darken. Clone an adjacent area like was mentioned, but I think without changing the opacity. The Darken mode will allow you to darken the brighter spots so they will better match the area you cloned from, but won't darken any area that are the same darkness or darker. Hope that makes sense as I'm still pretty new to this feature and I don't have anything to reference from.

Layers shamyers, I need to learn to use those someday.

Lasso'd his head then used selective color to select the shiny spots. changed the fuzzyness so it was mainly just the shine on his face. did a gaussian blur, with hue and sat bumped down the lightness and bumped up the sat a bit.

I never hear much about selective color on this site but it can be your friend :)
