The lowest placed 7 score I have found is in the Masters' Free study I. Ok, it was 2 years ago but were voters swayed a little as it was a 'Masters' Challenge?
27th place with an

69th (and last) placed had an
average vote of 5.631
Just for the record I'm not knocking any images but wonder how they would have scored in an 'ordinary' open challenge? (would the top 30 images have ribboned?)
IDK, I don't think it was sway, I think that if you have ribboned twice or more and you were given "free" study, you'd come up with some pretty amazing stuff... well, I guess that's what happened
Ya, Master's Free Study was both an amazing challenge, but also an anomaly for scoring. I do think people voted higher with the mindset that these shots came from ribbon winners.
It seemed like people voted in the survey to have another, but we haven't seen anything yet. I would love to have another and would consider it a challenge to pull all stops out.
Edit to add the opposite way of saying Andi's statement. You should not expect a ribbon if your score is below a 7. It does happen, but in the last 6 months, a 3rd place score is more commonly above 7 than below.
I have a ribbon with a 6.2 something shot. Of 11 7's, five didn't ribbon. It has to do with the precision of the challenge desription, and the ease of finding a suitable shot. The 6.2 was from the 'Bored' challenge, which people found very difficult.
I think I remember a lower scoring image than mine which ribboned, but i can't remember which challenge.

I'd love another Master's Study as well, now that I have 3 ribbons.
Of course.. like they did last time, they'll probably up it to needing 4 ribbons.. (it was upped from 2 to 3 after I got my second ribbon after the first master's study which had a 2 ribbon requirement.)
