I for one had real trouble deciding whether to include colour or not, in the end I went the wrong way and I am paying for it.
I would however like to say to you Kevin, it wasn't that it is hard for me to understand but maybe I interpreted it differently. In hindsight I was wrong, but I have learn't from this challenge and thats all I can hope for with every entry I make.
My thinking, for what little it is worth, is that if it has absolutely no color; then it could be considered DNMC. Although that would be pretty narrow thinking as well. My entry had more color then it should have (hindsight). And my favorite, during voting, had no color and I thought it was a fantastic picture.
I am one of those who voted that if the main subject was black and white then it met the challenge. There were actually some pics that were all black and white that I wished had a bit of color as it would have made the picture even more complete. I know of one shot inparticular that has a bit of color that is doing quite well in this challenge without any DNMC comments on it. I guess overall I was not quite sure how "Take a COLOR photo of a black & white (or grayscale) subject or subjects" gets turned into "everything in the photo needs to be black or white"?
It is for this reason that I chose to enter the color on color rather than this one. Even within my friends we could not agree, which I knew would have many people voting differently.

2.Choose the sunject which is completely black and white.A black and White cat is not suitable if you include its colored eye wide open.A cat with closed eye will do.
3.Background may have colors but a picture with white or black or grey background will have additional credit.
4.Do not convert the picture to grey scale mode in after processing.

2. Sounds a bit strict and I think could be argued - open for interpretation
3. Yes onthe first part - extra credit personal chioce

But this is just my lowly opinion. I am pretty flexible with everything except for points 1 and 2 (which happen to be the rules set forth rather than a description).
Ok I felt like it should have been a color photo that appeared to be B&W but voted overall on the photo even if it had color. The only ones I did not like were when it was obvious it was desaturated, shot in B&W or a photo of an existing piece of art. That being said I found some very good.
