I was just wondering if anyone knew of a tool I could use to imbed an image comment directly into a jpeg.

This is not to edit challenge photos, but rather because I'm building a website gallery with JAlbum, and it gives me the option to use the comments from image files. If I don't, moving an image from one gallery to another will cause the comments I added to the image to break (since they are stored in a seperate file).

I thought maybe photoshop did this but couldn't find out how.

You can do this in Photoshop via the info data. Select FILE, FILE INFO - there you will see areas where you can embed comments as well as lots of other info.

Can't believe it was that simple... I was trying to look for that option with the photoshop image browser with Photoshop 7 for some reason...possible this was just on CS2

Photoshop's File Info puts data into an area called "IPTC" info, which was (I believe) a collection of information used by Associated Press and other news media for "wire photos".

There is actually a separate "JPEG Comment" area which is not manually accessible within Photoshop. IrfanView (Windows only) has a separate button within the File Information dialog to access and modify it.

I don't know which fields JAlbum scans for info ...

Although I have Photoshop, I'd definitely use IrfanView.. the interface is much easier and faster. In fact, I use it to add all my comments when I upload my photos to agencies.

What OS are you using?

You can do it with Windows by:

Right click on the Image > Choose Properties
Click the Details tab... Click the Advanced button (I think you have an Advanced button in XP, Vista seems to go right to the EXIF)

You can enter text for:
Title, Subject, Comments, Author, Copyright.

I'm using Windows Vista right now and date taken and application are editable but might not be With WinXP. Rating and Tags fields are probably another new Vista feature.
