Somewhere in a past thread I listed a link that took you to a dl that opened up curves, layer masks and channel mixer for Elements 2.0. I have not had an opporttunity to use CM on an IR shot (yet - he says with an evil laugh) so I am not sure if this CM will do the same thing as in the pro version. Let me do a search and I will send it to you.
I also have Elements 2.0. But, I just desat the color, then use the color variations to add other colors or lighten or darken it and also I use the hue & saturation to adjust the tones.
There is another site that will allow you to open up a proper layer mask tool as well. Do a search inthe forums to find the link as I do not believe earthboundlight has that addon.

only negative here is that when I went to edit the layer, PSE-3 told me that the "layer was created in a higher version of PS, and cannot be edited" or something quite like that. :(
