The Schuylkill Banks trail is a great location to watch the fireworks over the Art Museum on the 4th. This is a short walking distance from my house. If you come from outside, I would come and plan to stay the night or come in on a train or subway. I wouldn't recommend coming anywhere near the Philadelphia Art Museum/parkway in a car the night of the 4th.
The Cooper River park in Cherry Hill usually has a concert and fireworks on the 4th but again traffic is a major headache.
I'll be at the Cooper River fireworks on the 4th. Foreigner is playing before hand, so you can also get pictures of ageing rock stars. If you get there early enough traffic isn't really that big an issue.
