Not sure where you are going to enter the park (Shenandoah National Park). Last trip up there I came in at the Thornton Gap entrance (mile marker 31.5). Accessed this entrance from Rt 211, west of Sperryville.
Going south on Skyline Drive from Thornton Gap the first overlook on the left is just past the tunnel. I took this image there around 7am. It was still cloudy from a storm passing thru.
The next overlook on the left is called Hazel Mtn Overlook. I'm pretty sure this image was from that spot, say around 7:15am. It was the overlook with a pile of boulders just over the overlook guardrailing. If you jump the guardrail and go down and around the boulders you can access this view.
