I can't help but notice that many of the Seasonal Challenge pictures that were representing summer time scenes where in BW or Sepia tone....The last thing I think about during summertime. Just curious, Why did you take the color out if you did???
I felt that black and white focused the attention on the boys and it was seeing summer through their eyes that I wanted to preserve. I also wanted to try to convey summer without bright colors if I could.
Faidoi, your image was not monotone it was a color picture with little color. I liked the image but didn't really see a season in it. Maybe because there wasn't so many colors. I did get a sense of time though. To me it felt like early morning or late evening.
Ttreit, yours is an good example of what I was originaly asking about. A very summer scene that IMHO would have been much more with the brightness of summer colors...
I felt that the color of the water especially drew attention away from the boys.
I looked hard at submitting the color version, but in the end went with the one I liked the best. I actually like that you have to mentally imagine the colors...but maybe that's just me.
Hmm.. its not just the seasonal photos. I have never in my life seen B&W fireworks, guess what placed in the Nightlife challenge. It was a great photo, but I need to imagine it in color.

Unfortunately, the week they announced a seasonal challenge the fog comes out. Day after the challenge ends the sun comes out.
