I don't have a 10D (yet?) but I just don't know if I could EVER dunk my camera in the drink -- even with protective coverings. I'd be so worried about the camera that the pictures would suck.
I have a hard enough time not damaging it as it is. :)
I've heard about this, but I'm opting out. It's way too expensive - about US$300 more than the camera body itself. I guess for hardcore divers, it's a steal (most of the very good quality stuff comes from Sea and See whose prices eclipse or go beyond the 10D-D100 range). But if 99% of the time you are on land, and only go on occasional snorkelling trips (15 meters deep, max) I'd recommend just buying a Powershot S50 plus the very high quality waterproof case Canon makes for their PS series. I know that the case is really good through experience; in one snorkelling trip this April, I slipped on a rock formation and BANGED my encased camera on a very hard surface. Amazingly, the camera (my Powershot S45) merely auto-shut after the impact, and is still working well. The case had a little scratch but remained solid and airtight. Next week, I'm on another snorkelling expedition using the same gear - US$650 total. With an encased 10D, you'd be risking equipment worth at least US$3500 in the water!
Yeh, there's risk in using any underwater housing, and from a practical standpoint I certainly agree with Mr. Santos, however it's nice to dream about taking the 10D under with, say, the 50mm 1.4 mounted...

Hi kirbic, please don't "Mr" me. I'm really much younger than the way I communicate.
Ya know. I got my camera and extended warranty at Wolf. As a selling point for their warranty they have a lens that looks like its been beat all to heck with a golf club. The sign says something like "If you can bring back the pieces, we'll give you a new one on the spot." (my paraphrase). I know that I dropped a lens and screwed up the elements and they just handed me a new one for it.
Now I'm wondering . . .
"Yeah, uhh, this got, uhhh, saltwater in it and, uhhhh, it just doesn't work now. Can I have a new one?"
Here in Iceland I got my camera insured so if I would by this underwater case and it would leak I would get a new one replaced :P
But I don't have that much money so I will just buy underwater-case for my Ixus camera :)
