I almost never end up with a crop which is the exact size of a print. I almost always add a border, filling out the canvas to the next-largest standard print size. I usually add text as well, but try and put it out of the way enough that it can be covered by a mat and they can still use the border if desired.
Mostly I do this to avoid resampling the image, either on my computer or in the printer.
Once someone buys your print, they are free to cover or trim off the border. This way my cropping technique is only limited by the esthetics of the image, not by print ratios. |
