No, you want to upload the full res version. If you go on the menu bar at the top, under DPCPrints>Help, there is a good FAQ section that covers the whole dpcprints process very well.
There is no restriction for portfolio images, but I know a lot of people (myself included) pretty much stick to the same format as you would for a challenge entry. Just depends on how much space you want to use.
When you upload a print file, you can do it from the manage page of a shot already in your portfolio, or you can start from scratch with a new image and it gives you a choice of size for the matching portfolio image. Ok, :-) maybe I'm not explaining it very well, but the FAQ should answer any questions you may have.
