I entered a photo into the Holy Challenge, The weather was dreadful and the sky was totaly washhed out and my photo lacked the impact I wanted.
Bearing in mind I am still fairly new around here and stumbling my way through Photoshop, I decided to have a go at changing the colour of the background.
This worked out well and I was pretty pleased but I thoughted it needed something else, So silly me thought what about a "BORDER"
Well the rest is History, to say I got cruisified would be an understatement.
Looking at it now the picture would rightfully so have done much better for me without the Border, but sometimes you have to make ( Monumental Clangers) to make amends.
So no more Borders for me !
Joe, I didn't vote in this challenge, but thought you actually did the border quite tastefully. It's true, people around here tend to dislike borders, simply because they're there. I don't know why. But I don't think the border takes away from your photo at all in this case.
So perhaps don't use borders in the challenges, unless you really think it adds something. But for everything else, go for it! You seem to have a good sense of how to use them.
Psssst.....go back and mark your comments helpful! LOL I notice you only have 1/2 of them marked helpful (the top half) even though the bottom half are pretty well the same type of comments.
The border was tasteful...my problem with it was how far in it came--especially because it bumped into the "bicycle guy"....just wanted him to be fully inside the composition.
