Nope, it seems screwed up, I can't get the average number I'm showing from any permutation of previous and current scores, unless the average is being weighted across all of the votes, so a lower scoring picture that had more votes would have a comparatively higher impact - could well be what's going on. Essentially later challenges have more effect than earlier ones.
