So I stayed home because I was expecting a delivery. Can't deliver to work and can't be left at the door. Hear a single knock at the door. Jump up and walk briskly to the door. I open it expecting to see the DHL delivery guy. But he's not at the door. He's more than half way back to his truck. Since I've had problems with UPS and FedEx using hit and run tactics I start out the door after him. As I do I nearly trip over my new 30D.
He just left it at the door! No signature, no handing it directly to me, nothing. Just left it out in the open in front of an unsecured apartment building. Might as well have left it on the curb with a note saying, "FREE, take me." I have half a mind to complain or tell them I never received the shipment.
I'm guessing it has more to do with how the company ships it. If they don't request delivery confirmation or anything, I think stuff just gets left on the step. That's what they do here.

Yes, I know it's fraud/theft, I'm just mad at the crappy delivery service I get in this area. I wouldn't actually do it. Just burns me up.
No, the street is far from the door and he was double parked behind cars so there's no way to see license or truck number without going all the way to the street.
Is this standard for DHL? This is the first time I've gotten a package here from them. It's just common sense not to do this. I ordered from Dell, they don't have any sort of signature on file authorizing packages for me to be left so I'm surprised they don't want confirmation it arrived.

The thought entered my mind, he did make it pretty far back to the truck. Further than I had gone to get to the door.
