Found thissite while looking for alternatives to Copperhill. I really like how it explains and compares all of the various methods and discusses what manufacturers use and recommend we use.

I especially like what Canon uses in house: Canon - Blower and a Kimwipe, held by tweezers. They do not like to use fluid but when necessary they use either 90% isopropyl alcohol or a 50/50 mixture of isopropyl alcohol and Windex.

They forgot the Deapee Scotch tape method.

Oh yeah, I missed it:

Scotch Tape - Use the sticky tape to remove unwanted dust.

* Pros: Tape is real cheap.
* Cons: You might get that piece of dust, but what about all that adhesive goo left behind. Not only no, but heck no!

Windex that’s insane! Isopropyl or denatured alcohol I can see. Methanol would be best like in Copperhill. But Windex has ammonia in it and that would leave a residue.

Methanol and Alcohol are used because they are a solvent and a drying agent all in one. I.E. No streaks.

Critically thinking scotch tape makes no sense at all.
